    Case Assessment

    Case Management

    SEA serves as case manager, facilitating communication between the family, school personnel and other professionals.

    • Establish a single contact point to coordinate care, communication and implementation of services
    • Referrals for additional services to other professionals

    Parent Training

    • On-going training of parents about their educational rights and responsibilities under state and federal laws, effective techiniques for working with school systems, and other bureaucratic systems
    • On-going consultation and coaching of parents in techniques of working with their child

    Crisis Intervention

    • Provide support to family in times of emergency such as hospitalization, arrest or breakdown
    • Strategize plan with family and professionals to address follow-up needs
    • Recommend and refer professional resources

    Transition Planning

    • Supply parents with recommendations for their child's transition plan to adult services
    • Draft a transition plan for the child with the parents and school personnel
    • Recommend community resources for transition to adult services
    • Assist family in preparing the transition for a child to move in a family relocation event

    Educational Advocacy

    • Prepare and discuss strategies to address the needs of the child
    • Negotiate appropriate services and programs for the child
    • Prepare IEPs and IFSPs with parents and educators
    • Review, critique and supply contributions to the development of IEPs and 504 Plans
    • Attend school meetings with parents
